A new year is tomorrow, but tomorrow is still tomorrow!

I’ve actually written this last year’s eve…

“So what are you doing next year?” Asked my cousin. For a second, I didn’t catch what she was talking about. I only realized what I’ve missed when she told me that today’s the “New Year’s Eve”.. Which makes tomorrow Next year !!

Of course I remember that a new year starts tomorrow.. Every year at the same date, we see everybody talking everywhere about how glad they are as the present year has gone, how amazing the next year should be & how dramatically everything should change by tomorrow!! Our Facebook wall suddenly turns into a huge colorful greeting card with the same “copy-paste” new year posts!!

But only today, it came up to my mind in a different way.. What’s so special about tomorrow?? I mean (hello?!!) tomorrow is just a new day in our lives!!

We had 365 days last year, were they a long doze?? If we’re willing to change our life and turn it into a lovely sweet heaven, why didn’t we do it last year?? If we’re planning to change who we are, why didn’t we change it last year?? And if we’re intending to make of ourselves better, why wait till the finale to set how the events should’ve gone?!!Why delaying our wishes till the new year’s “Eve”?!! For GOD’s sake, how many “Eves” have we got in our lives so we keep delaying?!!

Thinking of last year’s “Eve”.. Why are we still standing where we were?!! Weren’t those the same wishes of last year’s “Eve”?? Joy and happy moments aren’t exclusive to that moment when the clock ticks 00:00!!

To cut it short, I’m not saying we should stop wishing for the best or stop celebrating the new year.. .

I’m just saying it’s never too late to start over, it could happen everyday! If we consider every day as a “New Year’s Eve”, everything will go the way we wished and only then changing to the best would be guaranteed. After all, A new year is tomorrow, but tomorrow is still tomorrow! Have a HAPPY NEW DAY people!! 😀

Scenes: (5) Students vs. Killers!

As long as authorities keep oppressing, murdering and stealing our rights, all the photos I capture are going to portray marches and protests..

Last Wednesday and the day after, I marched to the Ministry of Defense, protesting against SCAF‘s brutal crimes and killing our colleagues along with thousands of students from many colleges, chanting “Down with SCAF” and demanding them to “LEAVE”!

# Here’s how the SCAF secured the building:

Because killers always hide..

# Girls hugely took part in the protest:

A poster for Alaa Abd El Hady, hung over a lamp-post..

I didn't capture this one, source: dostor.org

The “square”..

Source: Google.

This song; “The square” or “Ya el medan”, sung by the band Cairokee, portrays a common Egyptian perception about El Tahrir square and its role in the revolution. I won’t talk much, I’m leaving you to its plain-spoken, wholehearted lyrics..

# Song description:

“Egyptian anthem about Tahrir Square by Egypt’s leading revolutionary band, Cairokee featuring Egyptian singer/songwriter Aida El Ayouby.”

# Here’s the video, with English subtitles:

Because heroes get shot nowadays..

What would you do if you see a photo of a twenty-something guy, shot in the head, you see his lifeless body lying there then you realize he’s a colleague in your class?

I don’t personally know him, but it feels as if I knew him for long, as if he was my brother! I realize he’s just like me, a medical student who attended lectures, studied for hours, hoped he’d be a successful doctor someday, he probably had an upcoming exam, just like every one of us.. I cried my heart out. I cried till I ran out of tears..

And what was his fault? Dropping what he was studying and leaving his home in that cold weather to protest, to call for what he saw right??!!!

R.I.P Alaa Abdelhadi, we all pray for you. You were a hero, but not your fault that heroes get shot nowadays..

It’s called hope..

“Life is a road full of twists and turns. Learn to enjoy the ride no matter how bumpy it is. For every twist and every turn, a blessing is always given in return.” ~ Anonymous author.

You never know where the “ride” leads or when it ends. Sometimes it takes you where sun shines and birds sing on blooming trees. But there come some “stations” where it blacks out, leaving you in dark tunnels where ghosts linger.. It scares the hell out of you, but it leaves you no other choice, you need to get through. You wish you had a source of light, so you can make your way out..

Well, it’s not as horrifying as it seems, if you realize that those ghosts are nothing but your fear. You’re never aware of it until it haunts your heart.. The longer it settles in there, the more it impairs you and the longer you listen to it, the more it controls you..

And that light you need, comes from your inside, it’s called hope.. The longer it gleams in there, the more it directs you and the longer you hold on to it, the more it empowers you..

I’ve been through lots of dark moments, well, who hasn’t?! I freaked out, I panicked, but that only got them darker!

Only when I reminded myself I wasn’t on my own, and that God had put me there for a damn good reason, only then, I could let go of my fears, conquer darkness and find a way to sunshine..

As you go with your “ride”, always shed some light, keep the hope shining and “ghosts” will flee.. 😀

Inspiration kills..

Again, I’m out of posts! But this time it has to do neither with writer’s block nor with headaches! Although running out of inspiration drives me blank, blocks my mind, and frustrates me, I never expected too much inspiration to be as frustrating!!
.
Waves of inspiration have been striking me for the past three weeks; my head’s flooded with thoughts to express, but the hitch is, turning them into words! It’s like leaving a water tap open with no drainage!

If I could take a "snapshot" of my head, It wouldn't be better! Source: Google.

Since my so-messed-up daily routine doesn’t give me any control over its pace, everyday ends with nothing achieved. I can no longer focus. I wrote drafts everywhere; in the blog, in my cell phone, even on the back of my books, but eventually, I gave up and just trapped them inside my head! Being retained, inspired thoughts got tangled with postponed chapters of medicine to study and new skills to learn!! I swear, my closet is now way more organized than my head is!!

I see I’ve slipped into a vicious circle; I need to set a plan before I die drowning in inspiration!!
