e-booking?!

I’ve always been so traditional.. Even when it comes to reading, I’ve never felt comfortable reading on a screen. It just doesn’t feel real; e-books don’t allow me to sense the texture of the pages as they crunch when I flip through the book, and of course, they don’t smell like real books! 😛

However, since technology is now the trend, e-book readers have invaded the market and one can’t just overlook the fact that they’re making the reading experience more enjoyable and closer to reality..

Yesterday, while browsing my mother’s Galaxy-Tab, I noticed the installed “Kobo” reader and saw it was appealing! I’m not sure I’ll stay that interested, but I’ve already downloaded few books and planned to start “e-booking” soon. I might begin with “Pride and Prejudice” for it’s so recommended, but I’m open to any suggestions! 🙂

iQuote: (4) What friends are for..

It's amazing that..

“Only true friends go straight to your refrigerator when they go to your house.”~ Unknown.

And it's great how..

“A true friend never gets in your way unless you happen to be going down.” ~ Arnold H. Glasow.

Therefore..

“True friendship is like sound health; the value of it is seldom known until it is lost.” ~ Charles Caleb Colton.

And in the end..

“With true friends, even water drunk together is sweet enough.” ~ (Chinese Proverb).

3 more award nominations!

Within 2 days, I’ve got nominated for “The versatile blogger award” by ALL FOR LOVE AND LOVE FOR ALLGirl Meets World; and Whimsical Abandon.. I really  appreciate it when people think my blog’s worth reading, and want to thank them for taking the time to read my  babbling, but I also want to say sorry for having to break the rules..

I went through this tagging dilemma few weeks back; I tagged 15 blogs, talked about myself, and I honestly am not ready to start this all over again! I hope you guys understand this, and accept my apology.. And by the way, your blogs look interesting! 😀

Happy blogging everybody! 😀

Confessions of a semi-doctor: (6) Signs!

“A good doctor is a good observer.” Our professors keep saying! In fact, the effort a medical student exerts revolves mostly around obtaining that fine skill of watching. It’s all about scanning your patients for clues, and grasping threads that lead you to a close view of whatever illness they have.. Things referred to as “signs” in every medical book..

Source: Google images.

It’s confusing as you begin learning, for it ain’t that easy to “decode” those “signs”, analyze them and get a conclusion within few minutes, but eventually your eyes end up detecting random passers-by in the street!

The other day, I saw a slowly walking old man with shivering lips. I found myself subconsciously observing the tremors appearing in his hands, then “Parkinsonism” came on my mind! Today, I saw a man with a staring look and protruding eyes, I automatically shifted my gaze to his neck pulsations to find them pounding strongly, then “Thyrotoxicosis” gleamed in my head!!

I know it’s awkward, but if you found someone staring at you, don’t freak out, it might be a harmless doctor trying to figure out what you have! 😛 😛

Five silly things people do on Facebook!

Social networks have now become more like a lifestyle, everybody masters their own online kingdom, and it fools them with fake power and  delusions.. Some people use it properly, but others… you know what I’m talking about; all they deserve is a merciless “block”! Here are the top 5 things that irritate me on Facebook!

1. No offense… but, do I know you?!!

Source: Google images.

Who doesn’t love to have hundreds of friends?! But, (hello?!) Facebook is for connecting with your friends, not for making friends with random people, just because you like their profile pictures! It’s how popular you are in real life that counts!

2. Please remind me again, what is the “like” button for??

Source: Google images.

As far as I understand, if you post something, it already means you like it. So why on earth like your own posts?!! Also, liking someone’s comment should never mean you like them, or that you want to be friends with them.. Don’t make people regret they agreed once with what you said!

3. Sir, you might want to keep “what’s on your mind” in your mind!

It’s amazing how some people can abuse this little box, and fill it with loads of nonsense and utter inappropriateness.. Thank God there’s a “hide this post” button!  Some people too can provoke you with their plain shallowness! The same goes of course to the “comment” box..

4. I swear I don’t “farmville”!!

Source: Google images.

It floods your requests page as well as your home “news feed”! And people insist on inviting you over and over.. My games tab is empty and always will stay that way! I can bet I don’t miss much awesomeness!

5. And “rumor has it”!

Source: Google images.

You must have stumbled upon tens of these! And sadly, so many idiots blindly spread that rubbish!

What irritates you??

Another dose of questions..

And the cycle of questions keeps spinning.. I never was into this “chain-post” thing, but when people ask interesting questions, you can’t help but answer ! 🙂

Here are Better this way‘s questions..

Source: Google images.

1. What book are you currently reading?

Again.. “A thousand splendid suns”. But if you mean medical books, then it’s “Basics of dermatology”!! 😛

2. If you could live in any country/city in the world, which would it be?

Let me think.. I’ve always wanted to visit Paris, but not that I want to live there. I love Cairo where I live now; it’s crowded and noisy, but I love it! My second favorite place is Abu Dhabi.. 🙂

3. If you had three wishes, what would they be?

Endless faith, endless patience, and endless wishes perhaps??! 😛

4. Blackberry or Iphone?

Neither nor!! What’s wrong with Samsung or Nokia phones?! People blindly follow the trend, but I’ve never been that trendy!

5. What’s one thing that you can do really well?

Writing I guess?? Or If not, I’m a professional procrastinator! 😉

6. Harry Potter or Twilight? (you shouldn’t even have to think about it).

HARRY POTTER!! And yes, of course I shouldn’t think about it; Twilight actually stinks, I’d never like a shiny blood-sucking creature, even if it was “Edward Cullen”!

7. Name one song that could be the anthem to your life right now?

I’m not that into music, so honestly nothing is on my mind now. You can pick any song about moving on and hoping for the best.. 🙂

8. If you could meet any famous person from the past, who would it be and why?

That would be the prophet Muhammad (PBUH).. If he was here, I’d want him to rule the country, for the people in charge now have turned everything into chaos!

9. Favourite movie of all time?

You’ve got mail, also the Arabic-dubbed version of A bug’s life, it’s a lot more hilarious! 🙂

10. If you could spend the whole day doing just one thing, what would it be?

It depends, sometimes I can spend the whole day writing what’s on my mind, sometimes facebooking and tweeting, sometimes just sleeping, and sometimes literally doing nothing!

11. Who in your life inspires you the most?

My mother. 😀

Because she’s simply that adorable! :)

Whenever I think my whole life back and rewind the tape in my head over and over, I see how  often I panicked, stumbled, and fell over my face.. I also see her; always taming my fear, picking my hand, and lifting me up!

Source: facebook.com/3almachy

She’s that kind of confident, strong multitasking women who is strict, yet knows well how to have fun; a woman whose sarcasm gets you rolling on the floor laughing.. A genius doctor who also happens to be a great cook, a creative hairdresser, a good listener, a best friend and a lot more. She has this way of scolding you and making you laugh at yourself in the same moment, always encouraging you do what you love to do, but not on the account of your duties.. That kind of people you can’t recall a moment of happiness or misery without her always being on your side..

Source: Facebook.

To her I say Happy mothers’ day, not only today, but in every given day of my life. To here I say thank you; for being you, and for making me who I am.. ♥ ♥  😀

Dogs can scare me to death!

Almost EVERYDAY! My 2-year-old cousin is the most cuddly child on earth! 🙂

9. When was the last time a stranger smiled at u because of your kind word/deed to him/her ?

As far as I remember, that was few months back at Tahrir; when I volunteered at the field hospital. A woman smiled at me and patted my shoulder just because I was there!

10. What’s your favorite color? 😀

I don’t think I have a favorite color, but people claim that I love pink! 😛

11. What got you into blogging?

It’s “The accidental Blog”! DUH!! 😛
It was an accident! I was setting up a program on my PC, few minutes later, this blog came to life! 🙂
